It's a baby...

BOY or GIRL! Well as some of you may already know we got the disappointing news on February 18th 2011 that unfortunately, we were still not sure what kind of baby we are going to be having. The day started out with lots of excitement and expectations of ultrasounds revealing the biggest top secret we would ever be a part of. We had a great breakfast, made sure we both were camera ready and we didn't even have to wait for too long at Dr. Walkers (I am usually there for 2 hours for my appts, waiting for most of it, but he is still the best Dr around). Then we got to the good part and there he... she... IT was! This could not be happening to us... baby being shy? So we have a modest sleepy baby, covering its privates with its feet that wasn't quite ready for its debut on the doppler screen. Well it was still an exciting ultrasound we got to see the heart and all 4 chambers, its arms legs and all 10 fingers and toes (at least I think they were all there), the size of its head, femur and spine! We at least got one thing clear, IT is human! Contrary to some of my dreams there is no mistaking it for an alien, I was pretty relieved by this! The Dr. did make some comments like 'There is suspicion of a penis... but it could be a toe." He couldn't find the "boy parts" again so he said it is still up in the air as to what the sex is. So Rick and I were both really excited and maybe slightly bummed about not finding out if he is a she or she is a he but we kept on with the game plan of BABY SHOPPING! Something Rick dreads every time I bring it up. We managed to make it to Gilroy outlets and still found some deals on some boy stuff. I didn't dare buy any girl stuff but figured that some of the items I can use for either and if it ends up being a girl then I can give the boy outfits to others that are having boys in the near future. So here we go!

A few little plaid outfits

and then some comfy outfits

and my favorite little Nike shoes! Seriously how was suppose to pass them up? They are adorable right?

Then the next day I made it over to Old Navy and found the cutest little plaid shoes and hat and then the stinkin cutest little pirate flip flops ever!

I hope its a boy because I am getting lots of boy stuff but if it is a girl... we are in trouble because there is soooo much cute girl stuff out there. We are getting way too excited and decide to go do some more shopping, we had decided we wanted to get a rocking recliner instead of a glider so that it would be comfortable to use for a long time. We looked and looked and looked and found a bunch that we loved but hated the price, it was depressing! I really thought we would find a good recliner for $300 or less but nope, not out here. We happened to walk to another furniture store and low and behold they had the cutest Rocking chair I have ever seen and Rick loved it too!

Rick was really excited about having a nice chair that we both really liked a lot. So we got it! Rick was so excited about it that he decided he was going to make the cushions for it... all by himself! It is really cute how much he is getting into it and wants to make me happy! So we went to the fabric store and he got all the fabric and cushions to cover and said I am not allowed to touch it, it is his project.
Don't worry as soon as it is done I will update you in no time! So there we have it, all our fun baby stuff and still have yet to find out what kind of baby we are having!

Oh and one more thing, this diaper bag is something I am coveting very badly! I never thought I would want to pay $120 for poop bag but I can't seem to be interested in any other bag... I am going to have to pinch my pennies because I think this is the one thing I can't get over!

Valentine's Day!

So I am not really good at the whole surprise it's Valentine's Day but Rick is... so with him being super busy and stressed out with French class and no time I attempted to step up to the plate this year and to the fun Valentine's Day stuff, lets just say I had some big shoes to fill! Rick is always so good about having everything just PERFECT on special occasions such as this. I was never big on Valentine's Day even if I was sorta dating someone until I met Rick. Yup you got it we started dating on Valentine's Day 2008! So it has been a bit of a special one for us! To all those who have already heard this story sorry! Rick and I had been in the same singles ward for 2 years and never met, but then of course fate intervened... we both got the same calling! Divine intervention could wait no longer! I was called to be a Special Needs Counselor and had been in that calling for a few months before Rick got called. I absolutely loved it and it will be my favorite calling forever. Rick was called around Christmas time but again we still never really met, with this calling you are pretty involved with the special needs young and older adults so there isn't much interaction with the other counselors. Well Valentine's Day came around and there was this awesome Valentine's dance that we put on for them. It was a blast and it was so much fun to see them all enjoying themselves dancing around. As a counselor we were allowed to bring a date with us because they didn't want to take away from us being able to have a enjoyable time as well. I wasn't dating anyone at the time and Rick had just gotten dumped the week before, so here we were both single at the Valentine's dance all dressed up. I can't find any of the pics from the dance but here are some from other activities after that fateful night. Ok back to Valentine's dance, so the girl I was with all night wanted to hang out the girl Rick was with and I also think she kind of had a bit of a crush on him so the 4 of us hung out that night and the rest is history. No joke Rick and I were engaged a month and a half later and then married 3 months after that... that's right from first date to wedding... 4 1/2 months! It isn't what I suggest for everyone but it worked for us and we have had an amazing time so far and it keeps getting better! Now we are expanding that Maloy craziness by adding our own little offspring in July... gender yet to be determined!

Now back to V-day this year, so I made some heart shaped biscuits for breakfast on the Saturday before the big day and they were amazing! Best biscuits ever! Then on Sunday I made of course my favorite heart shaped sugar cookies, something I have done every year for as long as I can remember! Then on actual V-day I picked up my flowers that Rick got me that he didn't know about yet and then I made homemade heart shaped pizza, BBQ chicken style! It was pretty good, Rick loved it but I thought it could have been better! So a pretty successful Valentine's Day and I can't believe it has been 3 years that Rick and I have been together and life couldn't be better!

BABY STUFF!

Ok so if you haven't noticed... I am pregnant! I am 18 weeks and 6 days as of today! We are really excited and can't wait for this baby to get here. Thanks to my good friend Lauren I have learned a little more about how this whole blog thing works. She helped me find my first baby tracker which turned out super duper cute and then I came across the second one that had a little more info about the baby and its size in fruit! You can't go wrong with fruit but I still liked my first tracker so much that even though it might be over kill I am keeping both up :) So we have just a week and 3 days till we get to find out what we are having, I feel like maybe we can actually start getting ready for this baby. Most soon to be moms probably already have a ton of stuff for there little one but because we live in CA where it is outrageously expensive we haven't acquired much yet. So far my baby "swag" consists of some left over new born diapers that my friend Shelly gave me and then this giant box of wipes! Yup I bought a 1000 count box from Costco, it sounded like a good idea at the time and I am sure they will be used up before we know it. As we get more fun baby stuff I will keep the millions of you reading this updated :)

#9 thing I love about UT

Sorry to all the many of you that read my blog but I got a little behind.

#9 - Because there are amazing places to go like my cabin!
I miss having that as a weekend option to get away for a couple days and it doesn't hurt that it is so much flippin' fun and its gorgeous! Christmas at the cabin is always amazing with the crackling fire and the odd shaped christmas tree with lights run off of the solar panels... I just love it! It also doesn't hurt that it is right by Bryce Canyon one of my absolute favorite National Parks... the Redwoods are pretty cool here in CA but they just don't compare to Bryce Canyon or Zion. Hopefully we will get spend a day there when we get home!

10 Things I love about UTAH!

Ok so I know I'm not a great blogger... but I am soooo excited to go home to Utah for Christmas that I thought I would make a list of my 10 favorite things about Utah as my countdown till the day before I leave.

#10 Cafe Rio... I need Cafe Rio and I need it now! I know I have only 10 days left till I will get my blessed Cafe Rio, but seriously this stuff is like crack for me! This really is higher
on my list but ever since Jessica pos
ted of her itch for some of the
goods on facebook I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. This is one of the many great reasons why Utah kicks CA trash any day of the week. Maybe I should make a list of 10 things I hate about CA... maybe after I get back form Utah. Check in tomorrow to fin
d out my #9 reason why Utah rules! Oh and Lauren I know you will read this... I can't r
emember how to change my background, any help?!

I guess it is that time that I should finally update a bit... Here we go!

So Rick and I got married... wahoo! Had a wonderful first year of marriage, then Rick dropped a bomb shell and said I want to join the military (a decision I think he is now possibly regretting). Rick goes to basic training then onto AIT and that is what brings us to the present day, Rick and I living in Monterey, CA surviving the fog so Rick can learn French at D.L.I. Life is great and we are loving being back together. There is my update for now, check less often than more often and you just might be surprised with more updates.
